I met a “content warrior,” and she talked with me about being content.

She was a warrior at peace.

She was content with what she had in life. She didn’t strive for material gain or positions of power, nor did she desire the praise of others. Rather she stored up treasure in heaven by being rich in good deeds.

“Be content with what you have,” she said. “You will hear the teachings of many false teachers ‘who think that godliness is a means to financial gain. But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that.’ ”

Her message surprised me because it was the exact opposite of the message from the world. And I knew this was a safeguard for my heart.

Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”
