The Obedient Servant

The writer, longing to express himself; there is so much to be shared, to be given and poured out. The words that are given by the writer will be so important, so life-giving to the reader of these words. The writer loves those to whom he is writing. He longs to help them and show them the way. To teach and bring understanding is his joy.

The pen, it is the tool by which the writer expresses all that is in his heart to share. The pen, filled with ink to write down the words that the writer gives it. The pen, controlled by the writer’s hand to write down what he wills.

And the pen has completely given itself up for the task of writing. It yields itself to the writer to hold and write as he sees fit. Its very existence is to be used by the writer to write what needs to be written.

The writer and the pen work together, in order to communicate to the reader, words that will benefit them. Does the pen despise being used in this way? No, the pen delights to be of service in this way, because this is what it was made to do.

Disobedient Child

Thank you Kasia

(Father)

My child, my daughter, how I care for you. I teach you what is right because I love you. I tell you what is helpful because I care for you. As you grow, you will make your own choices.

Will you decide to do what is right, or will you choose what is wrong? For now, I will teach you what is right and when you are older, you will decide which way you will go.

(Daughter)

He’s always telling me what to do. He thinks his ways are best. I don’t know if I trust his ways. To me they seem too difficult to keep. And it seems as if no one around me is living the way he’s asking me to live, so why should I? Does he want me to have no fun? Does he want me to be miserable? He doesn’t understand me.

(Father)

I see the temptation to focus solely on what is forbidden and by so doing, ignoring all that has been given for her enjoyment. Why not instead, focus on what is given and find enjoyment?

And why does she challenge my ways? She is so young, and knows so little, and yet she persists in her own way. Can she see into the future? Does she understand what lies ahead? Does she have the end in mind? My ways lead to life, and my teachings are a literal path for her feet to walk in. Her disobedience will lead her to make many bad choices, which in the end will produce problems that she was never meant to bear. How painful it is to watch. How unbearable it is to love an unruly child.

Love,

“Eternal Life”

Thank you Karol

“You believe in Him, but I do not,” you say.

“It’s fine; you believe this, but I believe that,” you say.

But I tell you, “I do not merely believe in Him, I know Him. I know the Person.”

“Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.”

John 17:3 NIV

“The Faithful”

Thank you GIG-OS

What will the end be like?…

“Again, it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted his wealth to them. To one he gave five bags of gold, to another two bags, and to another one bag, each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey. The man who had received five bags of gold went at once and put his money to work and gained five bags more. So also, the one with two bags of gold gained two more. But the man who had received one bag went off, dug a hole in the ground and hid his master’s money.

“After a long time the master of those servants returned and settled accounts with them. The man who had received five bags of gold brought the other five. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with five bags of gold. See, I have gained five more.’

“His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’

“The man with two bags of gold also came. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with two bags of gold; see, I have gained two more.’

“His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’

“Then the man who had received one bag of gold came. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘I knew that you are a hard man, harvesting where you have not sown and gathering where you have not scattered seed. So I was afraid and went out and hid your gold in the ground. See, here is what belongs to you.’

“His master replied, ‘You wicked, lazy servant! So you knew that I harvest where I have not sown and gather where I have not scattered seed? Well then, you should have put my money on deposit with the bankers, so that when I returned I would have received it back with interest.

“ ‘So take the bag of gold from him and give it to the one who has ten bags. For whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them. And throw that worthless servant outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’” —The Parable of the Bags of Gold/Talents

“Love Your Enemy”

Thank you Andreas

I tell you, love your enemy.

Pray for those who persecute you.

“Why? How can I love an enemy?

Are they not against me?”

Because your enemy is lost and blind. They do not and cannot see the truth. If they could see, they would be a friend and not an enemy.

So pray for them, that they might be given eyes to see. I say, love your enemy.

“But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.”

Matthew 5:44-45 NIV

"Abounding in Love"

Thank you MEFeater

You are quick to forgive, abounding in love, and longing to show us mercy. If only we would repent and turn back to you.

Have we not all sinned and turned our own way? Can anyone say they never have?

And if we turn back, will He not receive us with open arms?

—“There was a man who had two sons. The younger one said to his father, ‘Father, give me my share of the estate.’ So he divided his property between them.

“Not long after that, the younger son got together all he had, set off for a distant country and there squandered his wealth in wild living. After he had spent everything, there was a severe famine in that whole country, and he began to be in need. So he went and hired himself out to a citizen of that country, who sent him to his fields to feed pigs. He longed to fill his stomach with the pods that the pigs were eating, but no one gave him anything.

“When he came to his senses, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired servants.’ So he got up and went to his father.

“But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.

“The son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’

“But the father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate. For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ So they began to celebrate...” —The Parable of the Lost Son

“Half-Hearted”

To the half-hearted…

You will not succeed.

You will not know truth.

You will be tossed here and there, like a wave of the sea.

You will be ever seeing but never perceiving, and ever hearing but never understanding.

The truth is, you are in love with this world and the things of this world, and you will not forsake them.

Because you’re half-hearted, I wonder if you even care that these things are true.

With faith, you can be made whole. Only by wholehearted faith and surrender can you be made whole.

I write this because there is hope for you.

“In the same way, those of you who do not give up everything you have cannot be my disciples.”

Luke 14:33 NIV
